My girl, Stacie Stone, had a debate on her Facebook page and she spoke so well on the topic that I figured I would just copy and paste. Get ‘em, hun! Thanks SCOTUS and Obama!
“You can still choose whomever you’d like as a provider. This is more about making sure corporations aren’t profiting off of other people’s illnesses. A competitive environment still exists for those offering various plans. It is truly about making healthcare more affordable and accessible…
“Yes, I do directly benefit, and in the future I won’t have to choose between being late with rent or being able to breathe properly. You’re giving me and my tax dollars a lot of credit here. I am not here to dictate people’s lifestyle. If you’re that worried about people eating like crap and not working out then perhaps you should take of the cause of food education and accessibility, so that people have better options. My taxes go towards a lot of things that I don’t like, but I still pay them. I do what I can to look out for my interests by being involved in the political process and being vocal with my representatives. Also, people without healthcare already get treated, but at higher prices that are often defaulted on, so guess who is already picking up that cost? The taxpayer.
“But to answer your question, I am more than happy to pay a little extra to be able to say that I live in a nation full of people that can be healthy and have a good quality of life. If my pittance of taxes goes to an obese person who smokes and goes tanning, that’s fine, and if it goes to a single mother of 3 that has breast cancer and works two part time jobs, then that’s fine too. I believe that part of being a patriot means taking interest in EVERYONE in the nation and their quality of life. That’s the trade of for being able to say I am a proud American, I do my part to the best of my ability to make this a better country FOR ALL.
“Lastly, the swing vote in upholding this was a conservative justice appointed by G. W. Bush, who still ruled it constitutional. So if you’re still against this, then maybe everyone against this is blaming the wrong POTUS.”
Furthermore, doctors will now be paid based on the quality of care they give their patients, not the quantity of patients they serve. Word!
